Intergovernmental Relations Administrator Brooke Hambrick provided an update on the 89th Legislative Session. The regular session began on January 14, 2025, and will finish on June 2, 2025. Over 4,000 bills have been submitted. The session’s current priorities include education, property tax reform, and state infrastructure.

In the State of the State address given by Governor Greg Abbott recently, he outlined his emergency items, which include property tax reform, water infrastructure, teacher pay, expanding career training, bail reform, cybersecurity, and school choice, which passed the Senate last week.

In addition, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has released 25 priorities, with more to come. The Speaker has designated committee assignments, which are as follows:
